About me

In my 27 years of experience as an English teacher, I have prioritised helping students and schools address literacy challenges—by developing and leading reading intervention programmes, assessing and tracking students’ progress and offering continuous professional development workshops to staff. When staff recognise students’ literacy challenges—and implement research-based practices—they are better equipped to help their students excel.

My global experience means I am well-suited to help students with varying levels of English fluency—from native speakers to those for whom English is a second language. In Canada, in Hong Kong and now England, I have gained valuable insight into the diverse literacy needs of students as well as the literacy demands of English exam boards.

I have recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Other Literacy Difficulties at the University of Birmingham. This programme has allowed me to deepen my understanding of dyslexia and enabled me to provide diagnostic assessments and specialist teaching for dyslexic students.

Educational Background: BA McGill University, MSc Edinburgh University, PG Diploma in Education McGill, MJ University of Hong Kong, PG Certificate in Dyslexia and other literacy difficulties (AMBDA) University of Birmingham.

Work With Me — Individuals

Every student has unique needs, and my approach to literacy is centred around personalised support. Understanding your child’s experience, interests, and profile is paramount. The assessment, recommendations and support plan I create will support your child to become both a more confident and a more independent learner.

While I have had the opportunity to work in different roles—from teaching to coordinating and leading—I have always believed in the importance of collaboration. I value working together with students, teachers, and parents to find the best ways to provide support.

Work With Me — In Schools

Whether I am working directly with students or supporting schools, my goal is to create an environment where dyslexic students feel empowered to succeed in their learning and staff are equipped with robust research-based theory and practical support strategies or programmes.

Having trained recently, I am well-equipped to help staff understand the new definition of dyslexia, the implications in the classroom, and the most effective, research-based support strategies to implement in order to guide their students.

I can support schools in improving literacy outcomes through offering CPD for staff, consulting on literacy provision, and providing exams access arrangements.

Please feel free to get in touch to learn more about how I can support your needs, whether it is through personalised teaching, assessments, or staff training.
